The ultimate romantic getaway: what to do on a London honeymoon

Are you soon to be married? If so, even though there’s so much sorting out to be done for your wedding – and, let’s be fair, much of it likely stressful – following that there’s your honeymoon to go on and simply to relax into married life with your loved one in the most romantic, indulgent and perfect way possible.

And where better to go on your honeymoon than the historic and culturally rich UK capital? It’s always been a hugely popular honeymoon destination for those hailing from every corner of the globe (and so booking a room at honeymoon suites in London is always popular). And for good reason; there’s so much to see and do here and so much of it potentially romantic in nature. Here are just a few examples…

Toast your new union at Gordon’s Wine Bar

Literally cavernous inside, this wine bar converted from genuine 19th Century wine cellars is just the place to toast your new life together; its olde-world interior décor both whimsical and nostalgic to the max. Admittedly, the exterior isn’t much to write home about but here it’s all about the inside itself and the hugely comprehensive, high-quality wine list, of course.

Let the Southbank cast a spell over you

Where you’re find an astonishingly diverse coterie of events going on at iconic theatres, galleries and museums, the South Bank’s rarely rivalled in London for the fun, frolicsome, vibrant and full of colour, but also rather magical and rather romantic come the evening when dusk turns to nightfall. Running all the way from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge and, thus, taking in the likes of the National Theatre, the Southbank Centre, the British Film Institute (BFI), the Tate Modern gallery and the Shakespeare Globe, there’s so much to see, do and enjoy here – as well as the River Thames, of course!

Take in a romantic panorama from the London Eye

Another of the Southbank’s sumptuous attractions, the Eye (originally known as the ‘Millennium Wheel’) is still the largest Ferris wheel anywhere in the world, boasting a height of 135 metres. And what better way to kick-off your London honeymoon (especially if you’re staying somewhere central like the Montcalm hotel Chiswell Street; from which it’s very easy to reach) than by going on a 30-minute-long revolution on the Eye, tucked snugly safely inside a high-tech glass capsule with your loved so you might enjoy the breath-taking view of the city below. It’s especially supreme and special at when done at night. Moreover, should you book the Cupid Capsule, you can enjoy a glass of champagne and champagne-flavoured chocolate truffles throughout your ride.

Go on a ‘chocalicious’ tour

Is there anything more sinful, tempting and thoroughly delicious than those oh-so mouth-watering chocolates? Probably not. In which case then, why not sign up for a chocolate walking-tour around the aspirational and terrifically salubrious areas that are Chelsea or Mayfair – and, yes, spoil yourself rotten with some of the finest chocolates you might taste anywhere in the world? A great way to sweeten your new union right from the very off – and in more ways than one!
